front disk brake parts

    My 1976 cj5 that I am fixing up came with disk brakes up front. I dont know if it came from the factory this way or someone upgraded at ont time. I do know it has the wedge type mount caliper and the lockout is a 6 bolt .
    I loked up replacement parts thru advance auto and it doesnt show disk brakes for a 76. can I just buy new caliprs and pads for a 77 ? will that work ?

    Front disk brakes were not offered on the CJ for 1976. The first year for optional front disk brakes on the CJ was 1977.

    If your parts store is cooperative, you can get the parts for a '77 and compare to what you have. Ask them if they will help you. Most stores will do stuff like that for a good customer.

    Post pics, and measure the rotor thickness.

    I bought pads for a 77 cj5 and they fit like a glove. I now am one step closer to getting this beast on the road. of course I still have about 200 more steps to go. :rofl:
