Trying to get this 1968 F4 up and running . New dist cap and rotor came intoday . Put them on and all looked fine until i turned it over . Tab on rotor hit the dist electrodes and broke the rotor . Auto parts seemed to think it was a screw up on that part and ordered another of the same . I think it is the wrong part alltogether .

It fit the dist shaft properly but seemed to be to long to rotate in the cap .

Any one ran into this before ?

THere was no cap or rotor with this when i bought it , nothing to compare too .

Sounds like your attempting to install an Autolite IAD rotor onto an Autolite IAY distributor.
If your distributor is original stock then it is an Autolite IAY and needs an IAY rotor not IAD.
Please identify your distributor. or load pics !
I have some new old replacement stock IAY rotors that I will post in the classifieds.
