My 1960, that is almost all original has an Omix-Ada voltage regulator.

The darned thing indicates charge while at rpm, but after sitting, it just wont start, i.e. no charge in battery.

I have diagnosed this thing to death, and cannot find anywhere a drain is occuring when powered off.

If the VREG is just bad, then I am hesitant in replacing it at 60+ bucks, and just ditching the Generator and Voltage regulator and just going with a Delco 10-si alternator.

    Any thoughts?

Check the actual voltage while running.
Have the battery load tested as well. Or, disconnect the battery and see if it still dies after sitting.

Don't know how you are testing for drain when all is turned off but the usual way is remove one of the battery cables and connect a test light between the cable you removed and the battery terminal. If your test light glows you have a drain. If not then suspect dead or bad cell in battery is killing itself.

My prime suspect would be the battery.
First thing , I'd haul it in for questioning.(load test)

Safety note: Always have googles or a full face shield when load testing batteries.
Years ago I tested one for a customer with a bad/shorted cell and blew the indicator out. Have seen them blow up worse.
    Take care.
