maybe dumb steering box ?

    I have a 605 saginaw power box for my jeep...I am doing some homework to get a parts list ready and ran into a question. When I count the splines on the rag joint end of the box I come up with 25 but from what I find it should be 30. This box does have the one side ground flat so are they saying 30 splines if the shaft was round? Or am I missing something? Thanks

    Not sure but the flat area would not care if there were splines there or not on the connecting piece, right. Does it look like the flat area would accommodate 5 splines? Can you check diameter of both parts or is it not suggested.

    Count the splines half way around (on the side that's all there). Multiply x2. That's your spline count.
