I have both sets as well. I put the D27 shafts in though. I like the idea of having replaceable joints. Once the knuckle parts wear out on the Bendix style, there isn't much you can do about it. The D27 shafts slide right into a D25 housing, but you have to put a "C" clip on the end of the shaft. I did have a friend who broke the Bendix type, but he came down off a log with the wheels turned. The D27 type may have broke as well in that situation. I don't know for sure.

I don't know if all the D27s were the same, but mine definitively needs a C clip. It goes on the very end of the axle shaft after you install the lockout hubs. The D25 has a machined shoulder that rides on the end of the axle housing. My D27 shafts do not have the the shoulder and need the C clip to keep the axle centered in the housing.

Yes. That's what you need. Actually a snap ring.

My left side bendix shaft grenaded during a trail ride taking out the spindle and inner wheel bearing (swelled the spindle) been using spicer type ever since, no problems- oh yeah my D25 has a lockright.
