I did a search on this and didn't find a answer. My flatfender had the turn signal switch cut out. PO just cut the wires on the column and taped them up. Turn signal switch was gone. I found a Signal Stat 900 at a junkyard. The cut wires happened to have the exact same color codes as the new switch. So I hooked them up color for color, replaced the flasher, and all of the turn signals work. It couldn't be that easy. I have no brake lights. Search sent me to this website: http://home.comcast.net/~sday77/binky/repair_turn_signals.htm I disassembled the switch and checked continuity, switch is working correctly. Went to this page to check wire hookup: http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Tech/SignalWiring.html I checked the brake light switch at the master cylinder, and it is working. My question is, where does the power for the brake lights come from. The schematic shows power goes from headlight switch to the brake light switch, then back up to the turn signal switch through the grey/black stripe wire. Does this make sense? My other issue is power not getting to brake light switch through a fusible link ( I have bypassed it with no luck). Should I replace it with an inline fuse, and what rating?

Brake light and rear turn signal share the same bulb/filament.

Power goes to the brake light switch, then to the turn signal switch-----and the turn signal switch directs the brake signal to each of the rear lights at the same time, if you are not turning. In a turning situation, the turn signal switch keeps the brake signal going to the light not flashing, but directs the pulsed signal from the flasher to the side you have selected for the turn.

    Hope this helps.

The power wire to the brake pressure switch that comes from the breaker on the head-light switch should be mounted on the terminal closest to the head/l switch thus using the breaker as your fuse.

Thanks Mike and Walt, confirms what I thought. I cut loose all the wraps on the wires and traced them all out. I found the wire going back to the turn signal was cut off. When PO removed signal switch, he tried to wire brakes only through the brake switch. I ran a new power wire from the battery terminal on the headlight switch (I'll switch it to the proper terminal as you suggested), then reconnected the wire coming back from the brake light switch to the turn signal. Brake lights now work properly!! Now I'm off to get the right connectors to finish the wiring.
