Here's a close-up pic of my color, somewhat distorted by the flash.
It's Medium Green Metallic 5B, a 1985 AMC Eagle color.
Sometimes the metallic looks silver, sometimes it looks gold, depending on the ambient light.
I originally took thispic to show the location of the TJ hood bumper I installed so that when I open the hood, the bumper, not the hood, hits the windshield frame ;)

    Thanks!
There's some offroad shots of mine over at Oxcreek, are you a member there? The site belongs to our fellow ECJ5er, Brad

register, then go to Photo Gallery, then 4 wheel Drive album, then look in the Tioga County PA albums.

I'll see if I can post a couple others here that show the color.
Oh, it's a two-part paint job, base coat then clearcoat.

I have a brochure of factory paint chips for 66 or 67. Wish I had a flatbed scanner so I could share. It also has drawings of the available seat styles, mainly the FSJ's, although the last page is the CJ's, it lists which colors of vinyl were used with which body colors. I just won an auction on ebay which I think is going to be the same type of brochure for 68/69.

I wouldn't worry about price to much. It only takes about a gallon of sprayable to paint a Jeep, if your not doing a hard top. I used base/clear on mine. Very easy to paint. The base dries very fast to a satin finish. Almost impossible to get runs. The clearcoat however will run very easily if your not careful. Make sure you get the proper temperature reducer for the clear. On the plus side, if you do run the clear it's easy to sand and buff out.
IIRC correctly I only used 2 quarts of color to paint my Jeep. mixed 1 to 1 with reducer it was a gallon of sprayable. More than enough. OH one other thing, make sure your primer is as close to your base color as you can get it.

    Two personal favorites:
    - White with just a touch of grey.
    - Tan
Both with black top and interior.

Cool, thanks for all the advice and pics. I went to the local Jeep dealer today and they set me up with 2 color codes. Light kacki (sp?) and Catus, both from the Jeep Liberty line. If I ever get a day off from work, I'll head to the paint store and try to decide which of the two I want more.

Again, thanks everyone. You all are a pretty helpfull lot!

    :)
