I have a chance to pick up a '73 DJ5 for next to nothing, and am wondering what parts might be interchangeable with the 73/74 CJ5. The fenders and hood look fine, Windshield frame and glass are good, it even has a removable top which I am hoping will fit.
    D44 rear
    232
    3 speed auto

Is it worth it to part these out?

I just realized the top will probably be too wide due to it most likely accommodating the sliding door.

    Hmmmm

So this is a postal (DJ-5A, DJ-5B, etc.) and not a DJ-5? I'd probably pass on a postal at any price, unless I had need for the engine. Even then, 232s should be cheap or free on the used market. Not much on there that's compatible with an intermediate CJ-5.

I dont know, I have the window frame on mine that has the wipers on top so I was interested in getting back to the proper style. Thats how I found this.

Well, most (many?) intermediate CJs have a Dana 44 with PowerLock already. And I think the spring pads will be wrong, so unless you can weld ...

That windshield looks like a later model ('76 or later). I think you can do better. You're in Sacramento - have you been to J&W?

I've been to J&W 3 times. I'm thinking they don't like me as every quote I have received has been as if the part in question was the last one on the planet.

Hmmm... glad I came here, you guys are dissuading me from dragging this heap home.

You can use the later windshield ('76-on), if you don't already have a soft top. The soft top for the later windshield won't fit the earlier, and vice-versa.

Yeah, I've heard that J&W is high. They have a lot of stuff though.

I suggest you pick out what you need amd try advertising on the WTB board here, and on your local 4x4/Jeep bulletin board. I've had good luck finding stuff through NEOW http://www.neow.net/

timgr called that one. The rear springs and pads are wider than a CJ's. I thought the frames were pretty close.

Wait so the '76s arent wider? Does that mean that if I put the later model windshield (76+) that I can get a '76+ hard top/soft top/whatever top????

I have fiberglass hardtop that will fit the 55-75 windshields if you are interested.

YES! And it looks like you are close enough for me to come look at it! :D

Although Now I am thinking of going with the 76 and later glass, any cons to this? Looks like with the different angle my cage might not fit, but I wanted to build a new one anyway.
