Last summer I tore apart a donor dana 30 in order to begin educating myself on these things, but I didn't it without any of the proper tools. I've looked over some threads and saw where gear pullers and bear separators are a big help. Not sure if a pinion depth gauge is absolutely necessary or not.

So here's my question. In order to rebuild a dana 30 and 44 properly, what would you consider the necessary tools to have in my shop? Regardless if the tools are home made or store bought.

I'm creating a budget and want to begin looking for what I need in the hopes I can find some of this stuff locally. Of course I need to know what to look for first.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I bought all my stuff here to bulid my 30 and build my 44 and others , so far ,,,,KNOCK on wood they are still fine and have not given me any problems , all my #s are not shown there now , but I'm sure they can still be cross refferenced. good luck , I have fake slip bearings ,special puller and seal installers ,all from Miller and made my own case spreader which esploded on the last rearend build. http://millerspecialtools.spx.com/DisplayByCategory.aspx?id=5
