king pin bearing caps: replace or not?

I found one article that said "always" replace the king pin bearing caps when new bearings and races are installed. None of the other articles or posts I read mentioned the caps when replacing the bearings and races. So, what do you think? Always replace them? If not always, then how do I tell if they need to be replaced?

 

:iagree: the bearing cap is a non wear item (unless the bearing is so far gone it has seized and has been rotating on the cap itself) very unlikley

 

Thanks for the replies. The caps look fine. No cracks, scoring or other visible damage. Can't say the same for the king pin bearings. Definitely time for new ones.
