I am considering an automatic for my 1961 rebuild.
Who here has done this conversion, with what engine, and how did it turn out?
    Thanks
    John

I have a friend that did it. Started with a stock '67 w/ 225 V6 and D18 t-case. It works fine, rear axles are shimmed to correct angle. Very short rear driveline and extremely long front. He had a 4" lift on it, but had to go back to 2" due to binding issues in some situations.

I had a buddy that did that on his ECJ5 years ago, i think he ran a high pinion D44 in the rear to help alleviate the driveshaft angle due to the really short rear shaft.

Dad put one in his CJ5 Dauntless. The driveshaft isn't an issue.
My factory T18 setup has a shorter rear shaft than Dad's with the TH350.
