I'm in the process of rebuilding my oil pump and just wanted to make sure I have things correct. I've read the tech. article on this on the main page and it contains a bunch of good info.

My question is about proper clearance. I lapped my pump cover flat and it also took out the minor grooving. With the new gears in the housing and gasket in place I'm getting anywhere from .0015-.003 clearance. The tech article says .002-.003 so I should be good right? The pump spins easily by hand without any vaseline or oil in it. Just wanted to be sure that .002-.003" is whats acceptable.

Well....its says "Clearance should be between .0023" and .0058". I didn't even think to look in the book

Well it looks like I'm good. Its only a bit tight on the edge of 1 of the gears.

I bought the rebuild kit from NAPA. It is just a stock rebuild kit with new gears, springs, 2 gaskets, and pressure relief piston. However, I used the gasket that came with the timing cover gasket set because it was the only one that would give me enough clearance.
