Cj7 Instrument Panel in a Cj6

Hello, I'm looking to put a Newer style (Cj7) panel in a 1975 Cj5/6. I want arrange the heater control knobs vertical to the left of the speedo. I would just copy that of a Cj7. I don't mind buying the newer style indicators, pull knob & cables. Would all the cables work with my heater & fresh air vent? I'm sure somebody has tried this before, What would be obstacles? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I asked a similar question...using a 76+ panel in a '74 CJ5 and was told that the cables for the '76 would not reach the '74 style of heater box and I would have to fab some.

I haven't done this though.

Thanks for the information. I'll try to measure the cables before I order them. I want to use the Indicators as well and just make it look like a newer panel. When I get my tub back from the Media stripper and paint shop I'll try to do a mock up.
