More transfer case issues

    So i got my clocking ring last week for my 300 and tried to install it today to find that the two bolt holes closest to the shift rails are not the same depth and require a different size bolt on the clocking ring. the problem is the clocking ring uses flush bolt heads with an hex head inset and i am not sure if the flaps will carry them. should they? i have a napa that is open tommarow 10 mins away a advance auto open today 1/2 hour away and a home depot and everything else 45 mins away. i dont suppose i can get away with cutting the bolt and still expect it to thread?

    Well, I cut bolts to length pretty often and they work fine. Dress the cut end with a grinder or file, and don't cross-thread it.

    alright thanks for the quick reply i'll try tonight probably. it's not like i can screw them up they dont fit now...

    Thread a nut on past where you'll make the cut. As you take the nut off it will reset the threads. All you have to do at that point is just clean up the top thread by filing off the thin part.:v6:
