VIN / Chassis No.

    Laws in UK dictate what type of licence plate you can/need to display on your vehicle depending on vehicles year of BUILD. Can anyone help me with any information from my chassis number of J4G845VE20499?

    I'm guessing that the second digit indicates you have a 1974 model. This is based on the info at this site: http://www.jeepfan.com/tech/tech_vincj.htm
    Not all of the digits (V & E) correspond to a number, though. Is this a CJ6 with a 232 engine?

    Someone, like timgr, should be able to pinpoint this data for you.

    Checking wheelbase length this is definately a CJ5 although I would agree from the site that the VIN / Chassis number indicates a CJ6.

    I took the number from the registration document, Will check the actual plate on the car. It is a 232 lump though.
