My 74 cj5 has 1" rubber spacers between the trans crossmember and the frame. Would solid metal spacers be a better idea? It's being held up by only one bolt on each end in the middle of the two bolt patern on each end. I guess the proper way to remount it would be to add holes to the crossmember/trans mount to shift the patern so the two end holes will line up.

Yeah, I would get rid of the rubber spacers and stick some metal spacers. The rubber trans/transfer case mount(s) should absorb vibration. One bolt isn't enough. I believe the norm is 2 per side.
