Here is the deal. I installed aftermarket LED lights I bought from Walmart. They are a 3 wire hook up with one wiring being the ground. Before I hooked them up, the brake lights work with the headlights on and off and the blinkers worked. It has a new brake swith installed 6 months ago.

This is my problem. The brake lights work when the headlights are off. They do not when headlights are on. The blinkers work on the driver's side but only dimly lit and don't blink on the passenger side. The blinkers do not work when the headlights are on. The CJ has a painless wiring kit in it.

dimly lit sounds like a ground problem; maybe attach another well grounded wire to the current ground point,
    or
are you sure you don't have the running light wire crossed with the brake light wire, from the LED lamp end, not the harness end ? (although you could check them as well)

I have LED lights and the same harness kit with no problems and no mods to make the LEDS work.

After thinking about it a bit, and before you posted, I think have wires crossed. My grounds are good on bare metal.

also the turn signal switch and or connections could be suspect
if it's a 7 wire switch, the brake lights feed thru the switch.

I was all working before I changed out the lights so I don't believe that is the issue.
