How many more things need replacing! Getting there slowly just need to sort out the steering wheel now due to broken spokes.

As getting a replacement CJ steering wheel in the UK is going to be virtually impossible and postage from US very high does anyone know if the older Cherokee / TJ and Wrangler steering wheels will fit (those without airbags etc) . There is a MOMO wheel on ebay currently on a Cherokee so wondered if it would fit?

I am unsure how many splines, if it is splined, the CJ has etc. Are the 72 CJ5 wheels effectively same as late CJ7 etc? Thanks again.:?

The steering column and wheel for a '72 are entirely different from the Cherokee. From 1976 on, Jeep used some variation of the GM steering column in all their civilian Jeeps. Up to 1975, the CJs used their own column and the so called "bus wheel" - a large diameter black plastic wheel - seen here:

If you want to convert the entire column to the later GM type, you can with some work. Not sure about the length of the Cherokee column - you'll probably have to shorten it.

JMO - undoubtedly cheaper/easier/faster to buy a replacement steering wheel from the USA.

Another possibility is to use some epoxy putty and repair the cracks in the wheel - a common procedure for old cars with unobtainable steering wheels. Google 'steering wheel repair' and there may be some advice online.
