My POS Ball & Socket style clutch linkage crapped out on me again this weekend, good thing I carry plenty of Zip-Ties.
I'd love to go hydraulic but I'm not sure what components will fit my '74.
So I'm looking into the Heim joint design as an upgrade. Similar to this package, http://www.tellico4x4.com/product_info.php/cPath/2880_327_2358/products_id/39410
I'd like to know if anyone here has used it and what are your thoughts of it. Also, are there better deals out there?

My 74 had the z bracket with a clutch rod that had heim joints. I replaced that setup with a clutch system. There are kits on ebay to do the conversion. I however vivited my local race car shop and bought all the same parts for less than the kit. If you want I can take some pics and post them. May be tomorrow though.

I used heim joints on my transfer case linkage and they work very well. I pieced my stuff together by going to a nut and bolt shop. All thread, rod, heim joints some even Grade 8 stuff.

However, I would steer you to research the hydraulic. parts mike parts can set you up.

Parts Mike is way expensive!! out of my league.
I've pulled the master and servo out of an '83 Wrangler, I can make the servo fit but there just isn't enough room on the firewall for the master alongside of where the brake master mounts. It would need to fit between the brake master and the hole where the wire harness passes through the firewall to the dash, just not enough space without cobbing it up bad.
This http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0418556086&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT is pricey as well, but still 25% of what Parts Mike wants for Hyd.
Thanks though, I do appreciate the advice.

You can put heim's on your existing linkage for a fraction of the cost above. I did it, it worked better for a while. The weak link is the bell crank. It's fine for the street but sucks in the rocks.

I am doing a hydro conversion and pieced it together with wildwood parts for half cost of the Parts Mike kit. Still expensive, but so worth it.

Get the clutch master from a 4 cyl CJ7. The mounting holes are on the top and bottom rather than the sides. It will fit between the master and wiring hole.
