AC for my cj6

    i can buy a ac set up from a yj 4.2l and wondering if i can put that in my 4.2l cj6:?

    he has 2 compressors because he dont know with one fits the 4.2l :rofl:

    the engine is the same, so it should fit:) i think.
    anyone know if the under dash unit fit ?

    Anything is possible with enough work. the YJ system is good because it has its own ducking and blower fan.

    One problem I can see is the routing of the hoses may not be easy.


    Also, older system use R-12 Freon refrigerant, I'm not sure about the EU, but in the US it is very hard and expensive to find. You will have to convert to R-134a. In the US these retrofit kits are easily attainable.

    I see one compressor with a serpentine belt pulley (on the right, the wide flat pulley with multiple grooves) and the other is for a V-belt pulley. You will need the one that matches your engine, which should be the V-belt if it's the original engine.

    As for the R12 to 134 when we changed (hear in the USA) the company that I was working for sent me to school for AC The instructors told us Install a new receiver drier ,TAG oil and the new ends and call it a day. Said the kits were BS so for years thats all we did. Found out later that the other shops were up grading the receiver drier from a Ford van when ever possible (they are a lot larger then normal RD) we never had a compliant about not being cool enough
