Help removing rear bearing on Ford T18 tranny

    Interesting. I have never used a split puller. I would assume if you can get the puller in place it would perform much better than a 2 or 3 jaw puller. I will check out the rental places and see what they have for the spilt style puller. I guess it all depends on how you ask the question to the rental places.

    On that thought I have noticed they are selling 3 jaw hydraulic pullers with a cage that hold the jaws in place and a mini hydraulic jack in place of the threaded center bolt. Little pricey compared to a conventional puller but I am thinking they would work better. Anyone have any experience with them?

    I got the bearing removed this weekend. Went ahead and cut down the shaft with the chop saw 4 inches and then I was able to pull the bearing off with a 3 jaw puller I had. The bearing pulled hard all the way off. Tried using a 3/8" ratchet and that wouldn't move it so I used my 1/2" impact and it hammered all the way. Thanks for all the input.
