Does anyone have pics of these colors? I have seen riverside orange but have not seen 72,73 renegade orange. From the PPG book they did not make a orange in 74, instead it is Trans Am red. Is this true? 1975 renegade orange looks almost burnt. Any help would be great! I am almost at paint and need to know the exact color code.

    thanks, Dan

These are PPG numbers from Autocolorlibrary.com.
    2114 riverside orange 1972,71

    60696 renegade orange 1972,73

    2400 trans am red 1973,74

    60786 renegade orange 1975

    2607 renegade orange 1976

Supposedly Renegades could be ordered in any factory color in '74 and '75.

If there is a difference between Renegade orange and Riverside orange, it's subtle.

A '74 could have been ordered in Omaha orange in 1974, and with the Renegade package, I presume. You could get the fleet colors in any of those years.

JMO - if you are not duplicating a color, I'd suggest you buy a standard hot rod color. The Kirker kits are well regarded http://www.smartshoppersinc.com/colorchart.html and TCP Global is another option http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/rspcolors.aspx - lots of oranges to choose from.

Here's a good picture from the Golden Eagle site:

This is presented as a '73.

Someplace on this site, I read where a guy matched Renegade Orange to 1976 Chrysler Impact Orange, which is supposed to be listed on modern paint charts.

I was thinking that the hot rod colors would be cheaper than custom colors. Certainly the custom colors from TCP Global are much more expensive than their "standard" colors.

Are you interested in restoring your Jeep to its original color, or more interested in picking a Jeep factory color that you like? As I wrote above, Omaha Orange was always available as a fleet color, because it is often used by companies and municipalities for their fleet vehicles. There's a fellow on IFSJA that has an Omaha Orange Cherokee Chief with factory black stripes. Dealers would order the fleet colors (white, black, Transport Yellow, Omaha Orange) regularly.

That jeep may be presented as a 1973...but I do believe with the Jeep embossed in the new font lower on the body it isn't original. 74 and a 1/2 and 75 are the only ones I've seen with that style lettering. Is that an accurate statement?

Timgr, I am looking for a factory color that I like. I have yet to see a 73 renegade orange. I have seen the pic of the 74 with the ren. stickers. Omaha orange is a little to orange for me. If anyone can find a 73 ren.orange or a 74 ren orange that would be great. the 77 is the burnt orange that I found in the PPg book. Thanks guys!

jepcjfive- I think you are right, but I thought that was supposed to be a 74?

I just has a few batches of orange mixed up to paint my project..
One of the colors I was looking at was Riverside Orange, that now translates to an AMC color Big Bad Orange..
I have a couple vials of it I could send you..
I am also a BASF supplier so I could even mix it up..

    Disclaimer
(this isn’t a sales pitch, just stating facts I have learned on my own journey)

I ended up going with a slightly off Omaha Orange…

Another possibility is to pick the color you think you are going to like, and have the store mix up a quart for you. Shoot an inner fender, underside of the hood, or whereever and see if you like it. If you do, buy a gallon and mix in the quart with it (just so the whole car will match).

    Hello Glen,

I'm wondering if you have a color code for your color and if you have any other pictures of it that are bigger.

I host my own event here in Colorado (The Colorado Scramble) and it was last week in Silverton. My girl friend and I saw a rig like yours and liked the color. I was going orange but I like this color, its almost lime Green... When I search for "Renegade Yellow" it just shows regular yellow??? Here is a page I found that has yellow and the sort of lime green together with orange...
