Hey guys, I did a search on here and did find what I was looking for in a thread, but the few jeep part places I have contacted around here say their books call for the same part number between a 304 and 360 and can't help me...allow me to explain. I have J truck drivetrain out of a '79 J-10. I have a '74 CJ chasis I am looking to drop it in and after changing the passenger side frame mount to a V8 it still won't sit down in the frame. I had my suspicions about the wider truck frame vs the cj frame and it was verified here in the thread I found. Can anyone tell me where to get or what to get in order for my motor mounts to bolt "correctly" to the 360 and drop on into the CJ frame?

The insulators (rubber part) will be the same, 304 or 360, CJ or J-truck. I recall that's the only part that is the same from the CJs to the FSJs. The engine brackets and frame towers are different. You'll need the engine brackets and the frame towers from a CJ. Is that what you are asking?

"Motor mount" is an inexact term - let me check what Jeep calls them ... as I thought, the rubber part is called an insulator. The other two pieces are called brackets; to engine, and to frame.

Yes sir, Tim, that is what I am saying. I have been referring to the "motor mounts" as isolators to all whom I have contacted. So what do the CJ V8 engine brackets look like? All I have around are jeeps with 258s, I don't have woody any longer. I think I have swapped the frame side as needed at this point, so I should just need the proper engine brackets, or at least I think so??

The CJ left frame bracket for a V8 is the same as for a 258. The right frame bracket is different. The engine brackets for a CJ are the same basic design as for a J-truck, but they are a different height from the engine - not compatible.

Yes, if you used frame brackets from a V8 CJ, then you need the CJ engine brackets.
