For engines I really like the duplicolor engine paints from NAPA. (probably elsewhere as well).

    A) Rustoleum - in a can so you can brush it on thick

    B) Haven't gotten that far yet ;)

    C) POR15 or Rustoleum if your cheap

    D) I used the PPG Omni line base / clear. If I had to do it again I would go with a one stage paint (no clear) to make repairs easier

I use a Chassis Black for anything that gets painted black. It's not Eastwood, it's another brand available only from automotive paint wholesalers. I can't recall the name. Tec 2000 or something like that I think. It's about $22/gallon, comes ready-to-spray. I dip some out into a half-pint can and use it from the smaller container, applying by brush. A gallon lasts me about 5 yrs :D
It's durable, and easily touched up. My roll bar, frame, bumpers, swing-out, springs, rocker skids, etc are all painted with it.

My transmission and transfercase are painted with Rustoleum industrial gloss black (been on there about 7-8 years), that way the dirt washs off very easy and alot of it does'nt stick at all to start with, my engine is painted with Detroit Diesel green (Duplicolor). the indusrial rustoleum dries fast and goes on very thick, I have 4 coats on my transmission and transfercase and 3 on my steering box.

FWIW Dutch had everything black - engine, frame, and undersides. Made it heck to see under there.

I'm moving towards slate gray for drivetrain up to the axles, those will stay black.

Going to try the eastwood stuff for body undersides and frame when I get to that point.

Body at this point is rattle-can duplicolor "bright white"...;)

Just recently overhaul both axles. I used Hammerite Rust Cap. Brushed on, two coats. Dark grey color with the "hammered" two-tone finish. Looks great and has enough gloss to make cleaning easy.

I used the PPG Omni line base coat paint with no clear. It was really just a barn paint job. And I was very pleased. Paint cost with reducer and thinner was only $85.00

I had my original paint color that used in 1956 "Comet Blue" mixed and get many compliments.

For the frame and motor, I used rattle can, semi gloss black. Not too bad.

To see a picture of an $85.00 barn paint job, see link below.

Tried the "engine" black rattle-can from the LAPS on my recently over-hauled, shop-silver-finish F-134. That lasted until my Carter coughed some fuel. Now major spots are silver again. The frame got many, many rattle cans of Rustoleum Industrial. Not long enough ago to get a fair appraisal.

JZ, you need to send me a pm and we'll get together at the Hooters in Huntsville for a couple of beers and some wings with Mark Mann.(he lives over in Madison)
I tried to send a pm but you have it turned off.
