    Quick wiring question..

I have rewired my jeep, and have everything working (GO ME!!!) except for the front parking lights/turn signals

if my headlights are off, turn signals work fine. but when the headlights are on/running lights are on front turn signals dont work. makes sense because adding a elictrical pulse wont do anthing when constant power is already there. im looking for a way to make both work.

i have THIS 2.5 inch amber light for running lights/turn signals, and like the fact that they are waterproof, but cannot find them in dual filament, which would make life a lot easier. im sure there is something simple i can do, but cant figure it out.

    anyone got the answer?

They're dual filament. One is running lights, the other is turn signal.

Sorry, I apparently didn't pay attention...
Is there any way to change the sockets out for dual contact ones?

it doesnt have sockets. the lights just push into a rubber grommet. I would like to put dual filiments in, but like i said, cant find them. trying to keep the 2.5 lights in, i like they way they look.
my original plan was to ignore the fact that the turn signals dont work when the lights are on. but it eats me alive that its not working exactly right:mad:

I guess if it were me, I'd use some housings with a dual contact socket so I could use 1157 (dual) bulbs.

The only way I see that you could use these single element bulbs for both running and turn would be with the use of relays. It can be done. Would take some drawings and research for the right relays. Are you sure you want to go this route?

Do you really use running lights that much? If no, just unhook the running light wires and use the lamps as signal lights only. This way they will work with or without the headlights on.

its not working the way i want it to?

i was thinking the relay thing too, but would take a LOT of thought. i guess i was just seeing it there was an easy little switching mechanisim i did not know about that would make it all work out.

guess ill either ignore it, or switch over to stock lights so i can run dual filiament...not like i use turn signals a whole lot anyway. ive just put so much work into wiring it up that i wanted it just right.

You may be able to get your lights to work as you want by duplicating the wiring senario used on late '80 GM vehicles. For example, on a late '80's Camaro, the marker lights are single element bulbs that are on when head/park lights are turned on but flash when the turn signal switch is activated.

A wiring diagram can be seen at Autozone.com, repair info, wiring diagrams. You may have to register to gain access to the repair info.
