Ok, so it's been a bit since I posted here. I lost track of this place after the site went down for a while...Anywho. I finished my 360 swap and fixed most of my wiring issues, but I have lately been contemplating a custom frame for the ol' 5. I was thinking of basing it off what Gene Ferris did with his Cj& the second time around. http://www.4x4now.com/bulj2.htm

If you don't have the time to check it out, the basic idea is building a frame with weak-ish rectangular tube and compensating for this by incorporating the cage into the frame. I planned on following his method of cutting and attaching the body to the new frame in pieces and avoid having to work around it. I'd like to stay with leaf spring for simplicity and be able to use a factory soft-top.

More to the point does anyone have any insight to any unforeseen problems, (other than complexity) any improvements, general advice, or further information on this type of build?
