Hey Sparky, so how does that V6 pull those 33" tires with 3.73 gears. Are you happy or would you like to go lower for all around driving on the street. I would like to know as I am also in the planning stage. I will be running a T18, with Terra low gears in the dana 20 Tcase and 33" tires. Thanks for letting me hi-jack this thread :)

Ahem, no hijacking PLEASE! Please review our rules, they are very specific about this for the Tech section.

I don't mind answering a question, but to take someone else's thread in a different direction is, well, rude.

Now, having gotten the administrative BS out of the way.

    I run 33x10.5s.

With 3.73's and a T86, it's more than adequate. It'll outrun my VW 2.Slow. I often thought about something similar, T18, w/ a granny low and keeping the 3.73 gears so there was no need for an OD since I have the flanged rear.

Thanks Sparky, sometimes in our excitement we just forgot the rules (note taken). So, I think you are happy with 3.73's? The reason I ask is that I am rebuilding my CJ2A, and put a Dana 30 in front (which has 3.73 gears) and my centered Dana 44 has (4.27) gears. Like I said I will have a V6 mated to a T18 with a Dana 20 with terra low gears (3.15). So, I have to make a change in one axle soon, I and I would like a gear set that would cruise down the road real nice, as I will have more than ample gears in the T18 and the Dana 20 for off-road driving. I went this way so I did not have to run an OD and the Dana 20 in so much quieter running down the road with a top on. Thanks for your advice,

Yeah, on the street it is perfectly adequate, maybe sometimes scary. It will grab rubber going into second, which makes one ponder why the cluster gear on my T86 is shot?

Anyway, it's roughly what you get if you have 4.88's and an OD. The V6 will easily accelerate the Jeep uphill in 3rd with my setup...

Off-road is a different matter, but you've addressed that with your setup it sounds like.
