I lost my only key and am trying to remove the ignition lock cylinder so that I can take it to a locksmith and have a new set of keys made. I found some posts here that helped me get the ignition out of the dash, but nothing that told how to remove the actual cylinder.

Do I need a special tool? Do I just use brute force and pull it out? I took a photo (sorry for the quality), but in it you can see a small opening in the side of the ignition. Is this used for the cylinder removal?

    Thanks for the help,
    Jason

Yeah, apparently. Found this at 4wd.com, http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=12134, looks like the same as mine; only $31. I was reading on the net about others with the same experience, but it slipped my mind that they were likely in a much harder to work on modern car. Problem solved. Thanks
