Hi all... I picked up this running 1965 CJ5 this past weekend and was looking for some opinions.
It has a F-head in it that runs great so far as I can tell, t90, d18 with 4.27 axles.
I just ordered the moab heater with the duct kit from summit from some of the threads I read it looks great and pumps out alot of heat. Can someone confrim for me how to hook up the coolant lines. The PO has removed the heater all together. There is a line that runs from the top back of the motor to the water pump now. From what it looks to me i should be putting the heater inline to that? Is that correct?
Next, i'm not sure what the wheels are on this but it looks like it has renegade wheels is that true? I'd like to put on 31x9.5 x 15s. Will that make a good choice, i'm not going to be doin much to it other than driving on gravel and back roads.... I have the steelie with tires on them as well from the guy.
One final question regarding the clutch. It engages awfully high on the pedal is that normal? Can that be adjusted at all with linkages or is that a sign for needing a replacement?

Well I found my answer for the heater hose lines in the archives.. :) It goes from that port on the water pump to the heater then heater to the rear port on the head. Easy enough...
Any thoughts on the clutch and tire choice?

Re the clutch, every clutch linkage has an adjustment somewhere. The clutch has to be adjusted as the plate wears, to maintain the proper pedal travel.

The FSM (factory service manual) should have instructions for adjusting the clutch. Typically you need about an inch of free play at the top of pedal travel. The 'feel' of the clutch is determined by the design of the pedal and linkage, and by the type and brand of the clutch cover that is installed. If the clutch disengages completly, the amount of free play in the pedal is not excessive, and there is no chatter or slippage, it's probably working as intended. There is a lot of variation in clutch feel from vehicle to vehicle; if it were mine, and I felt there was nothing mechanically wrong with the clutch, I'd try to adjust my habits to the way the clutch is.

Those look like the Jeep wheels, and should be 7" wide if they are. The 31x9.50-15s should be fine on those wheels, and will have plenty of fender clearance.
