i have a 97 wrangler tie rod with the draglink hole near the passenger side. i have been thinking of cutting it off to fit my 69 cj5 and rethreading the drivers end. it is a solid rod so the threading will be on the outside. it is also swaged.

the rod is about 51" now incl the ball joint. i will have to size it to about 41" with the ball joint.

for my sag steering conversion would this be reasonable or would a new tie rod from someone like advance adapters be safer and a better choice. (the new rod will be about $34 plus about $70 for a new rod end with a draglink hole) i figure shop time for rethreading will be about $45.

i also found a 4 hole saginaw mounting plate from a wagoneer which should fit the new frame section (cost 0$).

anyone know anything about the power saginaw boxes from the 80 wagoneer? ratios etc?
