v6 and smog control

    just curious as to how many of you have a 71 cj and earlier w/ v6 225 and still have the air pump and manifold air injection tubes on and functioning?

    No air pump here on my 1966, California registered.

    how'd you get it by inspection in ca? esp visual inspection?

    No smog check is required when you have a vehicle 30 or more years old.

    No smog check on my stuff either. I have two trannys sitting on my garage floor.
     
  7. I think smog restrictions started in '73 or thereabouts. Not sure though.

    Yep, sounds right. Around here anything 73 or older doesn't need to be checked which is why I have a 65 CJ5 and a 67 M715.

    1966 CJ5 with V6 California resgistration, no smog equipment originally on engine. In the 70s I had a 1967 Camaro and used to have all kinds of problems with the smog inspection. It was explained to me, that AIR systems were installed in 1967 Ca. cars only.

    Check your states for SMOG BS requirements. In CO if it is 75 or newer the SMOG stuff MUST be on the jeep. Emmissions tests are required (in the front range) for all vehicles UNLESS it's '58 and older and you get collector plates for it.
