    Hello All,
I needed to remove the 4 bolts on the upper bearing cap of my 58 CJ5.
For one thing they were all rounded off, and for another I wanted to utilize one or two of the bolts as a stationary point for the brake hose bracket.

Well I took the bolts out, and now for re-install I'm wondering if there is anything "special" I should keep in mind for the re-install of new bolts.

Shims are in place, and the bearing hasn't moved much... I'll try and align as I do a patterned progressive tightening of the bolts. Sound good???
    Thanks,
    Joe in Jersey

Torque in a cross pattern, 3 passes, each 1/3 rd higher till final torque is achived. As long as the shims are clean it should be fine. If you want to check to make sure it's right , do a pull test on the knuckle. ( possibly 12-14 lbs? I don't remeber)
That's assuming you mean the top kingpin bolts.

    Birddog,
Thanks for the advice... I'll do as you suggest; and I'll read up on that knuckle pull.
I feel confident it'll be OK.
    Joe
