Ive been doing a lot of transmission research and found the NP 435 to be an iteresting option. I know it bolts right up to the T 176 bellhousing. Is it hard ( and exspensive to try and mate this to a Dana 300 T/C? Are there any other manufactures of adapters for this swap other than a/a or novak? Does any body know of any used adapters for this project? Thanks.:?:?

What do you consider hard? Novak's NP435 kit includes a new main shaft, which means you have to disassemble the transmission and reassemble it with a new main shaft.

There are probably 4WD versions of the NP435 that are already mated to a New Process transfer case. The Jeep D300 has the NP pattern, but you'd have to make sure the spline count is the same. These transmissions usually come from pickup trucks, and the trans-adapter-TC will likely be too long for a CJ-5.

If you want a junkyard solution, your best choice is a Jeep or IHC T-18. Lots has been posted about this previously, if you search the post archives.

I have one I am putting in my 74. I have the novak adapter to a dana 20, but the dana 300 is the same length. While switching from my T15, it only 1" longer. I am using a T176 bellhousing, pilot bushing from Novak, shifter from novak, clutch from centerforce.

The adaptor will cost you abut $500. Is it hard? It depends on your mechanical abilitys. You have to change out the output shaft maybe relocate the rear crossmember lenghten or shorten drive shafts etc.
