I have no idea how this thing mounts into my Jeep! (Since I have never had a skidplate...)

I know the tank gets strapped into the skidplate.

Here is a portion of what I don't know as it relates to this topic:

    - Where does the skidplate bolt onto the frame: TOP OR BOTTOM of the "middle" crossmember?

    - Does the skidplatet bolt to the upper part of the "C" channel, or the lower "C" in regards to the rear crossmember?

A pic would be golden, if anyone has one...

I bolted mine to the bottom of the rear crossmember. Made up some brackets to mount the front. I have a new steel tank on my 75. I had to use a 76 and up skid plate. Don't let it whip ya.

Boyink installed that tank in his CJ-6. I expect you could secure it the way he did. http://www.boyink.com/splaat/ssdutch-comments/gas-tank-installing-rear/ The rear of the skid bolts directly to the bottom of the rear crossmember. The front appears to bolt to the next-forward crossmember. No brackets are listed for that application, so that's how it attaches in its native application. I wouldn't expect it to fit exactly, since the newer frame is different from the early/intermediate frame, but it looks like you can bend it and make it work. I'd bend it back or forward a little and butt the flange to the bottom of that crossmember - no need for anything more complicated, like putting the skid flange on top of the crossmember flange.

Supposed to have straps that bolt to the same bolts that hold the parking brake cable to the crossmember - can't remember top or bottom - have to crawl under mine and see.
