69 CJ5 has about 60k on it and I am trying to decide if I should buy new springs, or how do you know if they are worn out. I will be replacing shocks, bushings, body mounts ect. Thought about new H-shackles even. How much difference do new springs make? I did not drive this jeep before I got it so I have nothing to compare to.

I guess the easiest way to tell is if it sags, or doesn't sit as high as it should. I'm experienceing my first jeep, but they don't seem to have enough weight to wear out a set of springs

Just remember, the springs are always "working". Even when the Jeep is parked, the springs are holding it up.....Point is, they can and will be sagged after 40 years regardless of mileage or use.

Yeah, one of the apparent problems with leaf springs is that they sag with age, regardless of use or abuse. The springs aren't necessarily 'worn out' but after 50 years they seem not keep their original arch.

A good rule of thumb is to rebuild / replace your leafsprings if the shackles set at/near 45* (unloaded jeep)
