    Morning all!

"Fixed" my manual choke yesterday. A good summary is here:
    http://machotomato.wordpress.com/2009/10/29/fixinged-the-choke/

But, I'll make it quick here as well. The choke was only moving the flapper about an 1/8th turn. After screwing around with the carb and choke, I figured out that I needed to adjust the fast idle back out to make it articulate that flapper down to where it was actually doing something.

My question: Have I now increased my fast idle speed? Or, is that something that functioned with the now-gone vacuum system? Clearly, not an answer in the FSM. :D

Thanks guys! I know this is probably remedial to all of you, but I'm really learning lots and enjoying the heck of this project!

If you keep the fast idle cam settings for the automatic choke in a manual choke conversion, you have to open the throttle all the way to pull the cable. The fast idle stop has to climb the fast idle cam steps for the choke to close.

I suggest you keep the original fast idle stop settings and push on the accelerator pedal when you pull the choke out.
