I have had this issue before, and thought I had rectified this problem!! But on the way home from work some cylinders started missing. So after some sweet talking and a few things I don't even say to my fiance. I made it home to have it flood out. I pulled the air cleaner and Wa-La it was doing what it always does. This would probably be a good time to mention I pulled the old stock gas tank and traded it out for a DJ-5 gas tank (cleaned out the tank and sending unit). The float sticks to the bottom of the bowel and it seems the spring gets bent. Its not a major problem but a annoying one, I want to fix this once and for all...... Any Ideas??????

I can't give you a sure-fire fix, but I can tell you that you are not the only one that has had this problem. BTDT. I "fixed" mine by realigning the tang on the float that contacts the top of the needle valve, making it precisely level wrt to the valve contact. If you were serious about diagnosing this problem, you could examine the various valves and floats to see if there is something about the replacement parts that causes them to hang up. You might also try putting your OEM needle valve back in the carb ... they usually work fine when they are removed, but folks replace them when they rebuild the carb because the parts are in the kit.

My current inclination is not to mess with it too much, and instead think about EFI. Carbs are fiddly, inefficient and unreliable compared to EFI. You can put EFI in your ride for a few hundred bucks if you are handy. That's on my agenda... just a matter of finding the time. Here's one budget route. http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53524 - others are around, using various mixtures of Ford, GM and custom parts.
