so i have been going to glamis ca for the past two years during christmas time. (22 dec- 2jan.) i usually just bring a little 4x8 trailer and trailer me and my brothers dirtbikes. but i traded the dirtbike for a jeep. now im wanting to trailer the jeep out there(74 cj). my friend also has a jeep he would like to bring aswell (97 tj). my friend has a two car trailer. two axle. i was wondering if i could safely trailer this with a 2000 yukon xl one ton 4x4. ????

i was also wanting to pile two dirtbikes (450f's) and a quad (250 trailblazer).

..... five guys. (775lbs) two jeeps (7000lbs). two dirtbikes (460 lbs) quad (220 lbs) gear (300 lbs) bs (300) so......~~9000lbs.

    what do you guys think??

damn your right. uh well the trailer is a goose neck. forgot about that. well than i would have to be a 97 silverado 3500. 4x4. 7.4l. see my friend originally said he would drive his dually truck. but it crapped out on him....but i guess i might use the 97.

Coming south on I-10 to I-8 there aren't any huge grades. I wouldn't think the 3500 would have very many issues with that much weight on a good triple axle gooseneck. Just watch the throttle input on long, steep climbs to keep from cooking the exhaust manifolds. Maybe add a honkin' tranny cooler (with fan) and a tranny temp gauge. Make sure the trailer brakes are in good working order. I'd also think about running some synthetic oil in the engine to help the bearings on those long grinds. Lots of full-throttle load at lower rpms are murder on the main bearings.

Don't forget to add the weight of the trailer in there.

You said 2 axle trailer. I hope thats 8 lug. Go look at the weight rating on the trailer tires. It will tell you the max weight for that tire. Multiply that by 4 and you get what the max is for your tires. Your looking at over 5 tons with the trailer included..
