Master Brake Cylinder Diaphragm - Not Available?

Hey all,

Working on the brakes and want to replace the diaphragm on the master cylinder because it's seeping a bit. However, when I went to find a replacement, I couldn't turn one up! Do I just toss a whole new (reman) one in there and not sweat it?

What diaphram are you talking about? The one under the cover?

Yup. The "rubber diaphragm seal" (as listed in the '74 service manual). The only diaphragm in that MC that I know of...

 

The cap seal is probably not available as a service part. I recall it's not part of a rebuild kit typically - it's not supposed to wear out.

 

I bet you leaking is from rust on the mating surfaces, rather than a problem with the rubber diaphragm itself.

 

I think the help section at my local Pep Boys has one or two common sizes.
I was confused at first also, when I think of a MC diaphragm I usually think of the booster first.
