I need to pull one of the front frame horns in a bit on my 59 cj5 frame. What is the best way to do this? I had two ideas in mind so see what you think

    1. heat up the area with a torch and smack it into place

    2. Use a porta power and no heat. I was thinking of using the other rail to anchor the porta power to but is that a good idea?

Or is there a better way?

*Don't* use a torch on the frame, the FSM specifically forbids it.

I've had a lot of luck with using bottle jacks, chains & a FBH.

Have a look at the pics labeled "frame straightening" here-

Just pull them a little past where you want them *then* whack'em with the hammer to stress-relieve the metal. Let it sit for a few days, check again & adjust as necessary. I got my front horns back to well within 1/8" of where the were supposed to be doing this.

On Trucks on Powerblock TV a couple of weeks ago they did a frame pull. They put tension on the rail they were pulling then hammered on the kink. It was amazing to see how much the metal moved with the hammer blows with no additional force from the jacks.
How are you going to anchor it. In this case they had anchor points drilled into the concrete floor.

Mine sat the same, about 1". I had it straightened and within a year it pulled back about 1/2 of that distance. That was 3 years ago, since then it sits about 1/2 of what was pulled out.
