    Disconnected Vacuum System

First of all... thank you, thank you to nwedgar for that shop manual.

I had noticed that there were some conspicuous open spots on my engine block. After digging through the manual, I have come to find out that my EGR valve, EGR CTO, and spark CTO are are completely disconnected.

I understand the purpose of the EGR... but am not sure what difference it is going to make when I start plugging those puppies back in. Is there a specific reason for running with those lines detached? There is a manual (read: crap) choke on it. It's a joke, the cable doesn't work well and doesn't do much in the cold weather. So, I'm inclined to do away with it if its part of reconnecting my vacuum system.

How much trouble am I going to be in when I reconnect all of it? Are there parts of it that I should just leave open?

Thanks guys! Can't tell you how nice it is to have a pack of gear-heads willing to lend their knowledge!

    Wow, a scary-stock Jeep!

I think most on this board in the intermediate forum have tossed all that stuff. I myself have 2 vacuum hoses: One to the HEI and one to the PCV valve. Might be time to upgrade some stuff...

There are some things worth plugging in, others that offer no benefit to engine performance, though maybe marginal benefit to emmissions. PCV is a good thing to keep plugged in. Vacuum advance is worth having, though if it didn't work it's no big deal. The rest of it won't help engine performance at all. .
