I was checking out the gear raitio on a 1961 parts doner jeep & came up with a 2.8 gear raitio...does this sound right?
I clamped one of the wheels & went to the other side & rotated it 1 rev while watching the drive yoak.
This seems way to high of a raitio...dosn't it?

    From the Tech Library:

You need to make 2 revolutions.

    Sounds too low.

    Most likely it's 5.38.

    WOW!
    Thanks for your help.
Not to question...but only to learn:
On a camaro I had I had checked it with 1 revolution.
    We always called the gears 4.11 to 1 rev.....or 3.73 to 1.
Thats why I just went 1 rev.
Are the jeeps differnt from the average street car?
Does it have to do with the transfer case or something?
    Thanks...Tom

Yes. Both wheels have to turn a complete revolution. Easy when you have posi or a locker - rotate one wheel and the other rotates too.

Or equivalently, one wheel turns twice.
