aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

Any idea what the factory finished the frames with in 82? I am wirewheeling a frame and whatever they used a the factroy is a rear bear to get off. It has really helped protect the frame. Very little rust. I'd like to duplicate if I could.

It's black all the way down. The top layer comes off fairly eaisy but the second layer is really tough, almost has an elastic property to it. After I wirewheel it a bit it gets kinda soft. Good stuff.

    Thanks........

Sterlclan - Thanks. I had been looking for this oil based undercoating. I thought the oil was mixed with paint. I did a thread on this a while back. Got some real good answers. I want to coat the inside of the frame with something.

But do you think this what the factory used? It is a painted finish.
