I'm soon going to have my 225 rebuilt by a machine shop and was wondering how much more power can be gained by changing out the cam. Does anyone have any suggestions to what kind I should go with. I also need a new carb any sugestions on that too. thanks in advance.

Lots of discussion in the past on 225 cams is just a search away. ;)

I don't have the cams page back up yet but I do have one with specs for most of the cams available.

However, I think if you search (and I still encourage it there's good reading) you'll find that those of us who changed cams went with the Comp Cams 252H and are very pleased with it. More torque....

*was going to move to tech after I finished typing but Bobby beat me to it. Good on ya!*

No help on the cam, but the 390 Holley is a perfect match for the 225. My manifold is an Offenhauser and I think Edelbrock makes them also.

I just got my rebuilt 225 in the jeep and running. I had the following done and the Jeep is an animal:

    bored 40 over
    252H cam
    offenhauser 4bbl intake
    edelbrock 500CFM carb
stock manifolds into a single 2.5" and flowmaster 40 series
    HEI distributer

Lots of people say the 500 is too much carb, but it works great for me a 800ft above sea level. The Jeep also sounds awesome with that exhaust.
