fuel tank

    Has anyone built a custom tank for their rig? I have some space issues in my 56 and am thinking about fabbing a tank to fit.

    this was a home made tank I got from a parts Jeep

    I later replaced it w/ a Wrangler tank in the same spot so I could use the Wrangler fuel pump on my efi
    Where are you wanting to place a custom tank?

    I have a custom tank from 1/8" in the rear as well. With the heavey steel it is it's own skid plate too. I will probably build another this winter for the kids rig... Will look into a TIG for welding as it took more passes with the MIG than I wanted to get it right.

    I plan on putting it in the same spot as your pic. I put in some gussets at the frame crossmembers and a wrangler tank won't fit. My engine is EFI. It just seems easier to build one than buy one. What about baffles? How much fuel does yout tank hold? That tank looks like it won't go in from the bottom because of the filler tube.
    I think I will use 12 guage and tig it togehter.
