Has anyone ever used a Spicer 60 front axle? I came across one from a 85 dodge pick up for free. Thanks

Is that the same as a dana 60 ? The big issue witha 1 ton axle is the physical size. You have to lift the suspension in order to get the same amount of travel as stock. Unless you are doing some extreme wheelin' , it probably isn't worth the hassle.

Dana is Dana-Spicer, so I'd presume it's the same.

birddog56 is right, the pumpkin on a 60 will be awfully big to fit under the front of a CJ. The usual heavy-duty upgrade for an early CJ front is a Dana 44.

That axle is worth good money though. Popular with the full-size Jeep crowd. I'd drag it home.

1/2 ton is a 44, since its free you should get it, even if you don't use it it's always good for trading.
