We recieved a note about a 65 CJ5 farm jeep. We've posted the story at http://www.farmjeep.com/cj5barnfind.html . We've directed Rich here for more information and research, but thought you might enjoy reading what he told us.

Anyone know the last year that the Stratton lift was offered as an option?

    Thanks,
    Barry

It is a great find. What is your (Barry's) connection to this vehicle? If you don't own the vehicle, I would encourage you to have the owner post about his Jeep.

The parts books from the era would show all the "Jeep Approved" equipment that was available for these vehicles. Generally, any of this stuff, like the lift, could be delivered with the vehicle from the factory or added at the dealer. In my experience, dealers would be reluctant to order Jeeps with a lot of special equipment from the factory, since that equipment can be a target of thieves enroute from the factory. Special equipment also limits the number of buyers that Jeeps would appeal to, so typically this stuff was added after the basic platform was purchased.

Not dissing this Jeep at all - instead trying to provide some background info that could help the owner to assess this vehicle accurately.

<edit> Went to the original posting and clicked on the header to see the whole site. Now I understand the context of the original post better. Barry and Evan have some interesting documentation about agricultural equipment sold for use with CJs, including Jeep Co. literature. http://farmjeep.com/

Rich sent us a note at our Web site asking if we had any CJ5 information. I suggested he try here, but in the meantime, asked for more details. His email and picture response is what we posted (with his permission). I have encouraged him to post the details including all the paperwork on his own site or one of the many jeep forums (this would seem to be the logical choice).

Willys did market the "Farm Jeep" ( http://farmjeep.com/ads.html ) in the late 40's and early 50's, based on the old ads we have collected. They seemed to move more toward "Farm Power" in the mid to late 1950's. I've not done marketing research in the later years.

This is the latest (newest?) example I've seen of a jeep which appears to have been purchased for use as a tractor. Rich's note says "It was listed on Craig's List as "Willys Universal Tractor " ..." and one wonders if the seller picked that phrase off of some original paperwork.

In any case, fun stuff and I'll keep encouraging Rich to post.

    Thanks,
    Barry

Pretty cool! JEEP is a '62 however, going by serial number, plus body reflects that. :)

There was one for sale here a few years ago, I'm kicking myself for not getting it. The jeep itself was toast but the "farm" pieces were in seemingly good shape. It had a front and rear PTO, a pulley-driven hydraulic pump with lines running to the back and a 3 point hitch on the back. I was thinking it would make a great margarita machine!

I know where a survivor is, in flattie form. Just the problem is getting it... I'm not sure what it has for options and such.
