Tires rub on springs.

nope I do a lot of woods wheeling.....as long as I dont hold it to the stop its not bad I would rather have the turn radius than the no rub....it only hits hard enough to shine the spring not too much damage to the tire.....I do more damage with rocks and sticks......

 

It already takes 40 acres to turn a Jeep with a 25 front end without messing with the wheel stops. For the 220 that those spacers cost just buy a new set of wheels or drop in a dana 30.

 

Just lookin at that ebay link with 54 a piece and 12.50 shipping. Think thats probably on the high side.

 

Put a 30 front under it and the 1.5" wheel spacers in the back and you should be good to go. The rear spacers will help with tire rub on the inner fender.

The easiest would be to get new rim with a very little back space. October's Petersen's 4wheel & off-road has a article explaining back space and offset.

As for ill affects, very minor, the tires and shackle changing the caster will probably have more of an affect than any offset.

 

I think it is US Wheel that has a wheel with 2.5" backspacing availabale? Summit Racing is a dealer. I bought a set of Eaton 15x10 for my M38A1 and had them put the minimum, 3.5" BS on them. They are available at NTWonline.com. Best I can tell with my 35 12.5 BFG's, no rubbing. But I will be doing the Dana 30 swap at some point.

 

Have no doubt the 25 will hold up to a F-head, but like said earlier, 25/27 doesn't turn sharp. The 30 is wider and the open knuckle allows for a tighter turning radius, being wider was a solution to the question, how to get the tires to stop rubbing.
On a side note, the 25 held up well to my V-6, th350 trans that shifted way too hard, and 35" tires. That is after the knuckle had studs and newer axles were install with a power-lock, before that many axles and carriers.

 

OK, I'm pretty interested in this . . . but couldn't find it at the summit racing site just now.

Even more interesting is that you have 35 x 12.50's and no rubbing with 3.5" BS. Perhaps you have a really high lift???

 

Here is the 15x8. I know they make a 16 with that same 2.5" BS. Call Summit and see if you can get a tech to quote you. Not everything on the Website.

Has anyone used these? Seems like they're about the only ones available in the world so everyone who wants to run 33 x 12.50's would have these wheels to avoid spring rub on the front and inner fender rub on the rear. Why doesn't everyone use these wheels? Just thinking.

 

I installed 1.5" billet spacers on and I can turn from steering lock to steering lock without any rub on the springs or fenders. It also cut down on the rub on the inner fender wells when fully compressed. I am very pleased.

Nice. Those look to be a bit better quality then the ones from Summit. More money but better quality.
