Is there any tricks that I will need to know when I put the new master cylinder on the '63. I have never worked on such a mechanism.

#1: You MUST bench-bleed a new MC or else you will never get a good pedal feel.

#2: When you get it all installed, start bleeding from the wheel closest to the MC and then work away from it.

#3: Bleed twice, and then top off the MC with fluid from a FRESH can of brake fluid. You might get away with three times, but if you run dry you have to start all over again so why chance it?

#4. Brake fluid eats paint. DAMHIK.

Yes... That is typically the way it's done, and the way I've always done it.

I've never found any need to bench-bleed these old 'single' master cylinders, only on dual systems.

I would bleed the farthest wheel first.

There is a banjo fitting at the end of the Master Cylinder which uses a couple brass washers on either side to seal it. I never have much luck getting this to seal the first time. Only guidance I can give is just to keep trying.....
