So today we lifted frankenJEEP with a 3" Black Diamond lift. Well now i have a decent shimmy when over 15 mph. I was thinking the angle of the universal joint is not good so we are going to try shims. I do have a noise in tranny which I do not like but it could be the drive shaft vibration. What do you all think?

I think you may have 2 different issues. What kind of shimmy? The noise in the tranny could be u-joints. The shimmy could be from steering geometry.

Well I solved one problem. The u-joint off of the t-case was bad. Changed both and that problem was solved. When you talk about caster angle do you mean the angle of the pinion? If that is the case then do I need spring shims? The tranny noise is a grinding noise when moving or coming to a stop. 1st gear is not bad. Now I need to double clutch to get into 2nd. Also second pops out of gear. Third sounds not good. I haven't had a chance to open the tranny cover yet but my feeling is I am going to need to do an overhaul. I have never done one but I have pullers and other common tools for auto wrenching. What is involved in an overhaul? I hope I don't need to do this but we will see.

If it pops out of 2nd gear and 3rd doesn't sound good, just figure you need an overhaul and save what you can of the trans before it explodes the gear cluster. A rebuild on the t14 takes about 2 hours after you have it out. Less time if the thing is clean. I rebuilt mine about 13 years ago. Was very easy.
As far as caster its your king pin angle as compared to the level ground. You should have around 3* minimum. realistically 5* is much better and makes the Jeep track much straighter on the road and the wheels return to center after you turn a corner.
If you do need caster shims let me know, as I make steel ones.

Thank you guys. I will have to check but I think it is at least 3* - 5* on the caster. If I need shims I will let you know Mcruff. I think an overhaul is in order. I will start checking around for parts. Any suggestions? Thank you again everyone.
